Terra Ve Expansion: Good to Grow

James Ahearn March 2, 2007
Many people think that Terra Ve is a restaurant for creepy vegans and those obsessed with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. I have a slightly different view of Terra Ve. Rather than a waste of space, I view Terra Ve as a small eatery where I can grab a salad made of fresh lettuce, pieces of onion, milk-free cheese and healthy dressing.

Terra Ve Expansion: Not Worth the Dough

Megan Kenny March 2, 2007
I like Terra Ve because it is a convenient place for students to grab a healthy meal on campus-something we could all use a little more of, I would venture to say. You don't have to be a vegetarian or a vegan to enjoy the things Terra Ve has to offer: fresh salad, delicious pasta, t-a-s-t-y stir fry .

Anyone But a Soldier: Patriotism vs. Pop Music

Shawn McCarthy March 2, 2007
As a soldier with traditional values, I know that punk rock shows are not the friendliest places for me. I expect to have to tolerate the bands occasionally stomping on what I believe in; after all, they gotta do what the kids think is cool. I do not expect, however, to be attacked for being a soldier and disagreeing with the political statements made on stage, which is exactly what happened at Pop's on Feb.

A love letter to SGA-sort of.

Diana L. Benanti February 23, 2007
What would Adam Meister do? That question has been ringing in my head for three weeks since the start of this lovely SGA election season. That name, Meister, may be unfamiliar to some, but, truth be told, watching recent events unfold has made me nostalgic for the Meister Administration.

Education: More Than a Four-Walled World

Marshall Johnson February 16, 2007
It's cold outside. It's 3 a.m., and I'm wide awake, battling insomnia, unable to convince myself that I need sleep before my 9:30 a.m. class on the Philosophy of God. No disrespect to the class; there's just something incredibly attractive to me right now about staring at the walls.

The Vigil of Insteads

Jenna Steege February 16, 2007
Since a week after Sept. 11, 2001, the St. Louis Instead of War Coalition has gathered every Sunday evening on the steps of St. Francis Xavier College Church. With the corner of Lindell Boulevard and Grand Boulevard as their stage, the coalition members broadcast a message of peace and justice to whomever happens to drive or walk past.

Freshmen Kiss and Tell

Maria Reilly February 16, 2007
For those of the third and fourth floors of Gries, Walsh and Clemens who were in their rooms around 4:30 last Monday, I probably asked you to participate in my poll. It was a simple, completely anonymous poll. Just had to write down the number of people you've kissed since you've been here at school.

Global Warming: Truth or Myth?

Andrew Emmerich February 16, 2007
I'm no scientist, and yet I can't help but contain my excitement at the knowledge that one day, in the not too distant future, I could have beach front property right here in St. Louis. And I can only wait with bated breath for the day that St. Louis will be the largest city on the new east coast.

Good vs. Evil, Or Something More?

Julia R. Lieberman Ph.D. February 2, 2007
On the evening of Oct. 29, 2006, in the Busch Student Center, I attended the presentation by Saint Louis University alumna Magan Wiles and Washington University alumnus Sebastian Raul, entitled "Non-Violent Resistance in Occupied Palestine." Both Wiles and Raul traveled to the West Bank and Gaza Strip the previews summer with the International Solidarity Movement (ISM).

The Day We Swim Toward: A Four-Year Metaphor

Andrew Emmerich February 2, 2007
I've come to the conclusion that the years one spends in college are much like running toward the water on a sunny beach. It's an adventure-a great adventure-to attend college and explore the possibilities in the world. But this adventure, as so often happens with adventures, can end in tragedy.

February Resolutions

ROB GARTLAND February 2, 2007
Everyone is all up in my face about New Year's resolutions, especially my lady friend. "Rob, you need a resolution! You need to be a better person!" she says. I honestly can't think of much that can make me any better than I already am. I'm in pretty good shape.

Baghdad: Pull Out or Push Forward?

Cari Johns January 19, 2007
lly announced his plan in response to the situation in Iraq. Contrary to the recommendation of the bipartisan Iraq Study Report and many military advisors and, most importantly, public opinion, Bush intends to increase the amount of troops in Iraq by 21,500.
