Suda To Serve As 2000-01 KSLU General Manager

KSLU Promotions Director Brian Suda will assume the position of general manager for the 2000-01 school year.

Suda, a senior majoring in computer science, has been a member of KSLU since his freshman year. He began his tenure at the radio station as a DJ before being promoted to promotions director during his sophomore and junior years.

As promotions director, Suda is responsible for advertising, designing screen images for Channel 12, maintaining KSLU’s website and publishing issues of FIBER, KSLU’s program guide.

“He’s done great things with the promotions department,” said incumbent General Manager Jason Sengheiser.

Sengheiser added that Suda’s creativity and work ethic “will help make KSLU a fun place to be” for all members.

Sengheiser, who has worked with Suda for two years, said that Suda helped write computer programs this year, making KSLU “more paperless and automated.”

As general manager, Suda will oversee daily operations, acting as a liaison between KSLU and KSLU-TV, the student-run television programming that KSLU took over earlier this year.

Suda said he would like to explore ways to combine the radio and television stations in order to promote events on Saint Louis University’s campus.

“I think we had an excellent staff that worked well together this year,” Suda said. “We have so much equipment, but our manpower is limited by peoples’ schedules . Time seems to be a big factor.”

Serving as KSLU’s general manager will not be Suda’s sole task next year. He was also elected to the Student Government Association as an undergraduate commuter senator.

“Everything I’m taking on next year, I’ve been doing this year-officially or unofficially,” Suda said. “It’s not a matter of time, but responsibility.”

Suda’s plans for next year include finalizing plans for low-power FM broadcasting for KSLU, as well as using KSLU-TV and KSLU to “accent each other a little more.”
