New University choir to sing Handel’s “Messiah..” The newly formed St. Louis Community Chorus will sing with the SLU Chorale on Wednesdays from 4 to 5p.m. to prepare this piece. Griesedieck Dining Hall offers pizza service. On Friday and Saturday nights, students can call 977-1522 to place orders from 7 to 10 p.m. In exchange for two meal-plan meals students can order one large pizza and one two-liter of soda. Students should allow 30-45 minutes before pizza pickup at Griesedieck Dining Hall.
Benefit concert planned to fund Lutheran campus ministry trip to Costa Rica. Lutheran campus ministry intern Gretchen Weller will perform Friday, Feb. 2 at 7:30 p.m. The concert will take place at Bethel Lutheran Church, which is located at Forsyth and Big Bend. St. Mary’s Health Center offers rape crisis counseling. In response to the 10,000 rapes and rape attempts that occur annually in the U.S., St. Mary’s Health Center has partnered with the YWCA and the St. Louis Sexual Assault Center recently to open a new rape crisis center with services available 24 hours, 7 days a week. SLU hosts executive Master of International Business information session. Executives from across the region can learn more about advancing their knowledge of current international business practices and culture Friday, Feb. 16 at 4:30 p.m. The Executive Master of International Business degree program is a two-year, part-time weekend program. The event will take place in room 240 of Cook Hall. SLU to welcome sexual assault awareness speaker. Nationally-known speaker Luoluo Hong will present “The Date that Lasts a Lifetime” on Monday, Feb. 5. By discussing her own freshman-year rape experience Hong addresses strategies that both sexes can use to reduce campus rape incidences. SLU chapter of Phi Beta Kappa sponsors essay contest. Students are encouraged to submit original essays on “A Person or Experience that Changed my Life.” Essays are due by Friday, Mar. 2. For information, call 977-3109. It is not necessary that students be Phi Beta Kappa members. This is not an research project but a chance for students to present their original thoughts on how a person or experience has impacted them.
