St. Louis’ newest mall offers something for everyone

Wandering around St. Louis’ newest outlet mall, St. Louis Mills,
one will discover that it is not the typical shopping center. The
bright hallways lead shoppers through themed areas such as PBS Kids
Playground, Shakespeare in the Park Oasis, Circle of Fire and
SportsStreet. This is a mall that one can easily spend an entire
day in and leave empty-handed, without making a purchase.

St. Louis Mills, is located in Hazelwood off Highway 370. The
1.1 million-square-foot facility offers something for everybody
with more than 200 retail and entertainment venues. The mall is
designed to draw shoppers with its mix of off-priced outlets and
theme-park style entertainment.

Major stores such as Circuit City, Marshalls MegaStore, Bed Bath
and Beyond, Books-a-Million, Burlington Coat Factory and Off 5th
Saks Fifth Avenue Outlet lure shoppers to The Mills. Other stores
include Old Navy, American Eagle, Bath and Body Works, Nine West
Outlet, Guess Factory, Wilson’s Leather Outlet and many more.

There are also a number of specialty stores where shoppers can
find that special gift. One such store is Past and Present, where,
if you can think of it, they probably have it. They sell everything
from cartoon-character apparel and merchandise of the 1980s, to
movie posters and Coca-Cola collector bottles, this store has
something for every child at heart. Another exotic store is Earth,
Wind and Beads where the shopper can purchase a variety of incense
and other items from around the world.

For family fun or the sports fanatic, loads of action can be
found at SportsStreet. The area consists of many interactive
entertainment possibilities which include NASCAR Speed Park, ESPN
X-Games Skateboard Park, Ice ZONE and Putting Edge. The NASCAR
Speed Park offers fun for all ages with kid-size rides, arcade
room, bumper cars, NASCAR Silicon Motor Speedway simulators and
more. Future attractions include a figure-8 track, playground,
rock-climbing wall and laser tag.

At ESPN X-Games skateboards and blade enthusiasts can
practice the latest tricks and stunts. Ice ZONE is the official
practice site of the NHL St. Louis Blues hockey team. In addition,
the ice skating arena offers lessons for those ages three to adult.
There is open ice hockey as well as open public skate times.

Putting Edge adds a new high-tech, indoor, glow-in-the-dark
black light miniature golf experience. Prices are $8 for general
admission, $7 for youth, $5 for seniors and children six and under.
Monday through Friday before 6 p.m. the cost is only $6.50.

The mall also features the first Regal Cinema to open up in the
region. The theater offers stadium seating and 18 screens. On Dec.
15 and 16 there will be $1 movies, and the theater will officially
open on Dec. 17 with the showing of the Lord of the Rings: The
Return of the King. Prices are $5.25 for children 11 and under, $8
adult, $6.50 seniors and students and a matinee show for $6.

So if you have a day to waste and some last-minute holiday
shopping to finish,, head on over to St. Louis Mills for an
afternoon of shopping and entertainment, all rolled in one.
