The Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis is hosting an opening night for its new exhibition on Friday, Sept.11.

The new exhibit, For the blind man in the dark room looking for the black cat that isn’t there, running until Jan. 3, is a show made up of works by 20 different artists from all around the world, including Dave Hullfish Bailey, Sarah Crowner, Ayse Erkman and more.

According to the museum’s official website, the premise of the exhibit is not a code that needs cracking, but is, rather, an exhibit meant to celebrate the experience of not knowing.

The artists were trying to understand the world in speculative terms, eager to keep art separate from explanation.

As such, visitors to the museum are encouraged to simply enjoy the work without trying too hard to create meaning out of it.

Following the exhibition’s run in St. Louis, it will travel to various museums for showwings internationally in places like London, Detroit, Amsterdam and Lisbon.

The opening night event will be free to the public throughout the night and runs from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis is located at 3750 Washington Blvd.

The museum just recently celebrated their fifth anniversary at the location.
