Saint Louis University student IDs now include a Firstar ATM feature, which can be used to make withdraws, deposits, transfers and balance inquires.
This type of program has been implemented at nine other universities over the past six years. Whitney Bright, assistant vice president of Group Sales at Firstar, stated that “With these card programs we have created successful partnerships with the universities and have established relationships with the students that have lasted beyond their college years.”
Firstar/US Bank has 2,200 branches and 5,200 ATMs in 24 states, making it the third largest ATM branch network in the United States. Their headquarters is in Minneapolis.
Currently there are four ATM locations on campus-Busch Memorial Center, Fusz Hall, DuBourg Hall and the Learning Resource Center. Bright said, “We are always looking at additional opportunities to serve students and create a cashless, campus, and we have proposed to add additional machines in Reinert Hall, DeMattias Hall, Allied Health Building and Doctor’s Office building within the next few months.”
Students interested in activating Firstar accounts can get more information from the Firstar branch on the first floor of the BMC. During the first couple of weeks of school Firstar representatives will also be located at tables throughout campus. Firstar’s checking account for SLU students has many perks, such as no minimum balance, no monthly maintenance fee, unlimited checkwriting and an initial order of free checks.
The checking account can also be attached to the Student ID/ATM card.
Students with questions can also call the campus branch location at (314) 533-1041 or send an e-mail to [email protected]. Students with accounts can view their account history and transfer funds at www.Firstar.com, free of charge. The BMC location also provides a variety of loans and savings plans.
Since the Firstar location opened on campus in March 2001, “We have been very pleased at the response from students and faculty at SLU to this new program. We hope that many students will take advantage of the conveniences we have provided to them on campus and that we will continue to establish relationships with the SLU students,” said Bright.
