Trust Company rocks SLU

On Tuesday, Trust Company along with Unchained, Aimee Allen and Pulse Ultra, rocked Saint Louis University’s Trova Park for the CTN Tour. Unfortunately, the biggest disappointment of the night was the poor turnout from the audience. Nonetheless, the four bands played as if the whole park was filled and displayed an immense amount of energy.

Members of the Student Activity Board, along with local radio station 105.7 The Point, hosted the event. Starting around 5:30, Point DJ’s, Woody and “the whipping boy,” along with SAB member Christine Praet kicked off the concert. The first band to take the stage was local artist Unchained. The five St. Louis guys put on an awesome performance. They ended with their first single “Faded,” and left fans screaming for more. Rumor has it that Unchained will have a new CD coming out in November on a major record label.

The next performer was rocker chick Aimee Allen. She was energetic and was able to keep the crowd interested. Her first single, “Revolution,” sounds like a very promising song. Aimee will be great for the music industry because she has a different appeal and does not fit into the “pop diva” category. Women are going to be the next best thing in the rock industry and Aimee Allen is paving their way.

Following Aimee Allen were the Canadian rock group Pulse Ultra. Dressed in all black attire, the rock quartet kept the crowd alive with their heavy sound and unique songs. Their new CD, Headspace, was introduced this summer and the band is currently preparing for a tour with Tap Root. Their first single is due out in January. Like the other bands, they were cool, down-to-earth guys who were ready to have some fun.

Trust Company, the final band, put on a phenomenal performance. Although the crowd was relatively small, the energy they displayed when Trust Company took the stage was intense. The band played familiar favorites such as “Down Fall” and “Running From Me,”,along with a new song that will be appearing on their new CD which is slow in the making. The new song, not yet titled, showed great potential and will take Trust Company further down the road to success.

After talking with Jason Singleton of Trust Company, some interesting information was obtained. The group was formerly 41 Down, but changed their name because of the growing success of Sum 41. Their CD, The Lonely Position of Neutral, is based on the time that the band waited to be signed. Unsure of what the direction the band would take, the members were stuck in “neutral” trying to decide the future of the band. Fortunately enough, the band was signed and is currently touring. SLU was their third college campus concert.

The guys from Trust Company were also very fan oriented. After their set, they hung out with the crowd and signed autographs. All of the guys were more than willing to have a conversation with the fans and just hang out. Fans were also very responsive to the band.

All in all, the evening was a success. SAB did a wonderful job putting up the stage and helping the bands with their sets. Their cooperation helped the show run smoothly. Student Andrew Stoltz said that the concert “rocked a lot harder than SLU concerts in the past but in a good direction”.

The bands were nothing less than amazing, and the fans enjoyed the free performances.
