There is a birthday celebration set for Friday, Nov. 15, but there is no need for an invitation. Simon Recreation Center is celebrating its 20-year anniversary with a festival, and all are welcome to attend.
The event begins at 11 a.m. with a blessing by University President Lawrence Biondi, S.J. and continues until 3 p.m., said Eric Anderson, assistant director of Campus Recreation.
The celebration includes many activities for students and the Saint Louis University community, including a sports clubs expo where clubs will have the opportunity to hand out information about their sport. Clubs such as judo and karate will also be doing demonstrations.
Other activities will be available, such as wellness services, blood pressure checks and massages. Food and live music will also be provided.
Anderson said there will be raffles for an X-Box, a Verizon Wireless phone and Visa bowling balls. Campus Recreation will also be giving out T-shirts and other free gifts.
“I think it will be a fun afternoon,” Anderson said, “and a chance to learn information about Simon Rec and its history.”
All activities will be held inside. Anderson recommends coming early to guarantee leaving without empty hands.
