Bring your resume and an open mind to the Spring Career Fair on Wednesday, Jan. 29 from noon to 4:30 p.m. in the Simon Recreation Center at Saint Louis University. The annual event is organized through Career Services and is open to all students and alumni.
“We encourage all students to come,” said James Buck, assistant director of Employment Team for Career Services. “You can get an idea of what kinds of companies are out there.”
Employer representatives from a wide variety of industries will provide information about full-time, part-time and internship opportunities.
Companies being represented at the event include Anheuser-Busch Companies, Inc, Clayton School District, Decatur, Ill. police department, Edward Jones, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, the Internal Revenue Service, Nestle Purina PetCare Company and Sigma-Aldrich. A full list of attendees is available at careers.slu.edu.
“Come with an open mind,” Buck said. “Talk with as many different employers as possible.”
Several graduate schools, law schools and medical schools will also provide information about programs, advanced degrees and fellowship opportunities.
Among the schools being represented are Central Missouri State University, Eastern Illinois University, Lindenwood University, Saint Louis University, University of Missouri-Columbia, University of Tennessee Space Institute, Washington University School of Medicine, Webster University and Xavier University.
“Students should at least schedule an hour of their time to wander around and look,” Buck said.
Career Services staff will also be available to help students register with eRecruiting, SLU’s online forum for posting resumes, and to provide tips on conducting a job search.
For help and advice with resumes before attending the event, the office will be open for walk-in resume reviews on Monday and Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, call 977-2828 or e-mail [email protected].
