Sno-Core 2003
March 6 at Mississippi Nights
Alternative heavy rockers will rejoice in the bill for this year’s Sno-Core tour: Glassjaw, Sparta, Hot Water Music and Dredg. It is well worth it to ditch studying tonight and start Spring Break early this early down at the Landing. This all-ages show has a flat $17.50 cover charge. Doors will open at 7 p.m., with the show starting a 8 p.m.
Hot Hot Heat
March 8 at The Galaxy
Canadian rock has long had a reputation of being watered-down American rock that truly doesn’t have much to offer to the typical music fan. Hot Hot Heat is trying hard to break this mold with its mix of new-wave, punk and British Invasion-era rock. Come experience this strange amalgamation on Saturday at The Galaxy. Tickets are $8, and the show starts at 8 p.m. with opening act Tree of Woe.
Reverend Glasseye and His Wooden Legs
March 10 at Off Broadway.
The circus just doesn’t seem to come to St. Louis anymore. For those people who revel in the bizarre and escapist world of the circus, Reverend Glasseye and His Wooden Legs will prove to be a show worth experiencing. The group mixes gospel, German cabaret, jazz and American roots music into a traveling tent show of a concert. Unfortunately, this show is limited to 21 and up. Tickets are $6 in advance and $8 at the door.
SR-71
March 10 at Galaxy
Like your punk rock without all that pesky relevance? If so, then SR-71 is your band. The group had a hit a few years ago with “Miss Right Now” but has spent the past few years recording its new album and finding a replacement drummer after the old one quit the band. Tickets for the show are $6 in advance, and $8 on the day of the show. Cavo opens the night at 8 p.m.; the doors open at 7 p.m.
Macy Gray
March 11 at Mississippi Nights
Macy Gray burst upon the scene in 1999 with the smash hit song “I Try.” Since then, she has worked with the Roots, had other minor hits and basically tried desperately to reclaim the accolades she got with her debut album How Life Is and her one big hit song. This Tuesday, Gray will try to win over more converts at Mississippi Nights. The show costs $20 flat, with the show starting at 8 p.m., with an unspecified opening act.
