Michael Vorenberg, Ph.D., an associate professor of history at Brown University, presented a speech pertaining to the legacy of Abraham Lincoln, slavery’s effect today and the matter of reparations. He gave his speech on Thursday, Dec. 7 at the Saint Louis University Museum of Art.
His speech, “Abraham Lincoln, the Legacy of Slavery, and the Question of Reparations for Society and the University,” correlates with the current exhibition, “The Lincoln Legacy: Presidential Years.”
Vorenberg is an esteemed expert on the 13th Amendment and is best known for his book Final Freedom: The Civil War, the Abolition of Slavery, and the Thirteenth Amendment.
