KSLU, Saint Louis University’s on-campus radio station, is getting noticed on the national stage.
TV network mtvU, MTV’s college-centered channel seen on more than 700 college campuses, recently announced the nominees for its fifth annual Woodie Awards, special tributes honoring the best in music as voted on by college students from across the country. Categories include honors for best new artist, best video of the year and artist of the year.
New this year at the Woodie Awards is a prize honoring college campus radio stations for their work in bringing indie and up coming musical talent to their university communities. Vying for this “Radio Woodie” along side 19 other college stations, KSLU will square off against four other stations in preliminary voting on the official website beginning on Oct. 13 and running until Oct. 20. Four preliminary rounds of voting will be held with the winner of each moving on to another round of voting.
Nominees for the “Radio Woodie” were chosen based on input by independent record labels other nominating bodies. Winners will be announced on Nov. 12, with the ceremony to be broadcast on mtvU on Nov. 19 at 7 p.m.
