MtvU and the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences are giving a few lucky college students the red carpet treatment, literally.
Until Jan. 23, college students can shoot and upload an audition tape to oscars.mtvu.com to audition as a broadcast correspondent. MtvU and the Academy will choose the 10 best entries that will be featured online at mtvu.com. The three teams whose videos receive the most votes by other college students online from Feb. 2 to Feb. 11 will be given a trip to Los Angeles by mtvU where they will cover pre-Academy Awards events for the college-centric cable channel.
A final round of online voting that will take place from Feb. 12 to Feb. 20 will determine the winning team. The team will get a press spot on the red carpet during the Academy Awards’ arrivals along with backstage press passes. The other teams will receive tickets for seats along the red carpet and entry to a viewing party.
