As the Easter holiday approaches, Easter eggs have begun popping up all over campus.
To the surprise of many students and administrators, however, eggs filled with condoms were found on Wednesday, April 20 as B*llikens for Choice placed 1,000 of these condom-filled eggs across campus.
The leader of the underground pro-choice group spoke with The University News, but asked to remain anonymous.
“We are always looking for new ways to get our name out to students, and the Easter holiday gave us a great opportunity to do that without revealing ourselves,” the leader of B*llikens for Choice said. “Students are having sex, and we are here and we got what you need, and we will give it to you.”
Early Wednesday morning, administrators began discovering these eggs, and facilities worked to have them removed within a few hours. On Saturday, April 23, Saint Louis University will host its annual Easter Egg Hunt in the Quad, and this sparked more concern from administrators.
“Can you imagine if someone with their child picks up an Easter egg and that is what they find inside?” Dean of Students Scott Smith said. “You look at the method and impact of this incident, and it is a very juvenile way to send a message.”
SLU, with its Jesuit affiliation, does not support the distribution of contraceptives on campus or recognize B*llikens for Choice as an official student group. According to the group’s blog, their mission is to “support everyone’s right to make independent choices about their body and sexuality, including (but not limited to): The choice to have sex, to remain abstinent, to use contraception, to have an abortion or to become a parent.”
“We do not endorse, support or recognize a group that has a viewpoint that goes against the mission and values of the University,” Smith said.
The leader of the B*llikens for Choice stated that the purpose of this distribution was to help the students more than it was to go against the University’s values.
“Majority of college campuses will give condoms to you, and here we are literally going through back allies to get them to you. There are more students out there having sex than the administration likes us to believe,” the leader of the group said.
According to B*llikens for Choice, the group has been planning this “Easter Surprise” for months. The group recruited students, or “Easter Bunnies,” to casually place the eggs around during the day with each “Bunny” having 20-50 eggs. Planned Parenthood and The Great American Condom Campaign donated all the condoms to the group.
“We went the distance to get the word out, and we may be anonymous, but we are not alone,” the leader of the group said. “Sex is all about your choices so make sure you are doing what you want.”
Smith said the administration was “confident” in the action that they made, and they will not seek to charge those involved with conduct violations.
“You can’t come down on someone when you don’t know who it is, and we have greater work that needs to be done with University resources,” Smith said.

does not endorse, support or recognize a group that has a viewpoint that goes against the mission and values of the University, but is willing to hire entertainers and display movies that promote sex and violence because…well, that’s different for some unspecified reason.

This is hilarious!! Good job, I wanna join this group! Sex education is crucial and as a Texan I am totally dissapointed in my former state and their unwillingness to teach it. It will have devastating consequenses.

This is hilarious. So what if a child picked up a brand new, unopened, SEALED condom? Tell them it’s not candy and to keep it moving. I don’t know what people are so afraid of.
