Mozart Picnics At The Park

Picture it. Laying on hundreds of sharp, green blades of grass looking up into the sky. Already I have a feeling you see this as a happy place. Now, add hundreds of brightly colored hot-air balloons floating with the clouds. Red, blue, green, purple, any color you can imagine. It is getting even better isn’t it?

Then, you listen closely and realize that David Amado is conducing the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra in a piece that could inspire and elate people everywhere. It may be Mozart’s Andante; Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7, or even Chopin’s Minute Waltz. Whichever it is, it is peaceful and relaxing to the ears.

Though this may seem like a dream, it could easily become your reality this weekend. Every year people come from miles away to witness an event that is held in Forest Park that has sparked interest in the hearts of many for decades. It gets bigger and better each year and this year will be no different.

It is the Great Forest Park Balloon Race and it is going to be held this Saturday, September 16. The balloons can be seen from almost anywhere in the park, but why not enhance the experience by watching them from the Skinker-Forsyth entrance of the park. The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra will be performing at this location beginning at 2:00 p.m. This event will prove to be worthwhile.
