The Black Student Alliance will present a night of charity with its third annual charity fashion show and semi-formal.
The night, entitled “From the Rising to the Setting of the Sun,” will take place Sunday, April 22 in the Saint Louis Room of Busch Memorial Center.
The charity fashion show begins at 6 p.m. with a semi-formal afterwards. The fashion show is centered around the theme “From the Rising to the Setting of the Sun.” The models will hit the runways in sleepwear, black, casual, swimwear/active wear, business, and formal attire. Banana Republic, Express, Roszell’s Tuxedoes, Bebe and Marshall’s are a few of the sponsors for this years fashion show.
Most of the models are in BSA but there are some models from other Saint Louis University organizations and Harris Stowe State College.
The semi-formal is held as a way to celebrate charity. Food will be provided.
Ice Box Entertainment will provide the music during the fashion show and semi-formal. Ice Box Entertainment is composed of SLU students.
BSA is asking for a donation of $10 per ticket. All proceeds will benefit Saint Paul Saturdays. Saint Paul Saturdays is a charity for young men ages 5-18. The charity takes them to different events in the community, prepares them for the workforce and much more. Volunteers run Saint Paul Saturdays.
According to Babette Thornton, president of BSA, this is the biggest charity event BSA sponsors and every year a different charity receives the proceeds. The event is a way for BSA to give back to the community.
Tickets are available in the Office of Student Life, BMC 300 or the BSA office, located in the lower level of the BMC.
“Everybody is welcome to attend. We want a very large turnout. Where else can you get fashion, formal and food all for $10?” asked Thornton.
