Don’t take crime into your own hands.
During a night of studying, one student in Marchetti Apartments decided to confront the noise coming from a neighboring apartment.
Shortly after asking the neighbor to turn the music down, the neighbor’s brother appeared at the original student’s door allegedly wielding a knife.
The threatened student contacted the Department of Public Safety, who responded and found the other student in his brother’s apartment.
He was arrested on a charge of “flourishing a dangerous and deadly weapon.” The charge is a felony, explained Director of DPS Jack Titone.
A warrant was not filed as the victim did not show up at the police department the next day to file charges.
The student denied wielding a knife and a knife was not recovered.
Titone advised students seek DPS help for any noise complaints.
“Let DPS be your mouths and ears,” he said. “If there is a disturbance, call DPS first.”
