Regan brothers bring free smiles to BMC

Saint Louis University offered comedy family style last night when the Regan brothers came to entertain students. In an event sponsored by the Student Activities Board, Dennis and Brian Regan gave a hilarious and free performance.

Brian headlined the duo. Dennis opened. Dennis has previously been seen on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and “The Late Show with David Letterman.” He has an appearance scheduled on Letterman again next month. Dennis did a wonderful job warming up the audience, with jokes on everything from studying to Scooby Doo.

When Brian took the stage, the already-warmed-up crowd kept laughing for the rest of the show.

In between poking at the audience, the comic made fun of greeting cards-especially the ones blank on the inside and the Kennedys. Brian previously had his own Showtime special and has been on “Comedy Central.”

Brian’s been to St. Louis many times before, performing at the Funny Bone Comedy Club at least twice a year. This was his first time performing on campus, and he enjoyed the experience.

“It made me feel good how supporting the audience was. That and the uniqueness of the set made the time on stage enjoyable,” Brian said.

Brian first started doing comedy when he was in college. He took a lot of speech classes and thrived on making people laugh during his speeches. After that he just fell in love with it. “That feeling of making people laugh was, `Oh my gosh,’ just a great feeling,” he said.

The Miami native, who now resides in Los Angeles, prides himself on his clean act and the fact that he believes he is the funnier brother. He enjoys performing with his brother and tries to do so at least once a month.

The comic, who performs without a set routine, loves to work with a smart audience. He mentioned that SLU fit that bill.
