DJ Nitro

The second stage at Spring Fever received an injection of unparalleled energy Friday evening courtesy of St. Louis native DJ Nitro. Nitro, who currently is based out of Kansas City, offered a 60-minute set which, arguably, was the most musically diverse of the Spring Fever lineup. Nitro has been involved with the underground dance music scene since 1993, starting as a local club DJ in St. Louis. After gaining success locally, Nitro opted to move to Kansas City to pursue his career as a producer. His decision has turned out to be one of the best he as made.

Following a seamless mix from KSLU Resident DJ Ronny Louvre, a sense of anticipation overtook the crowd as to what the lanky DJ had to offer. Stepping up to the tables with his patented wooden record box, Nitro dropped his signature blend of self described “Hard-Funky-Disco-House.” A dedicated group of dancers urged Nitro to push the limits during his set. Although the attendance paled in comparison to the headlining acts, Nitro’s appearance proved to be the most musically relevant. Numerous curious bystanders rushed the stage as Nitro ended his set, anxious to find out who the performer was and get more information regarding the music he was mixing.
