The 11th annual Leadership and Service Awards Banquet was held this past Thursday, April 25 in the basement of St. Francis Xavier College Church.
The banquet honored outstanding student leaders for their contribution to Saint Louis University and the surrounding community.
The Leadership Awards honor SLU students who have exhibited exceptional leadership in contribution to the success of their organizations.
There were six leadership awards recognizing those deserving students. They are:
Diana Umali-SLU Media Leadership Award;
Peter Brokish-Special Interest Groups Leadership Award;
Erin Dunn-Programming or Governing Board Leadership Award;
Katie Hohnecker-Academic and Professional Studies Award;
Nicole Morton-Greek Leadership Award;
Sean Waggoner-Residence Hall Leadership Award;
Recipients of other rewards were:
Chip Mullican-Pasty Brooks Award;
David Clark (adviser to student organizations)-Avis E. Meyer Outstanding Adviser Award;
Emily Mason, Michelle Rodgers and Chad Kreikemeier-Campus Ministry Food Drive Award;
Campus Kitchen-Bill Nordmann Community Service Award;
Jeffrey O’Hearn-Mev Puleo Social Justice Award;
Michelle Rodgers-Father Paul Reinert Service Award;
Elizabeth Lucier-Father Mario Ross Leadership and Service Award;
SLU Make a Difference Day earned the state’s highest award for the national service event-The State of Missouri’s Make a Difference Day Award.
“SLU is at the forefront of service to the community,” stated Lt. Gov. Joe Maxwell. “The Make a Difference Award is just one of the great things you do.
“This banquet celebrates you [the student leaders] for leading a trail for other to follow. Because of this, you have made a difference,” said Kathy Humphrey, vice president for Student Development at Saint Louis University.
