A letter from Zorga: Advertisements

Felicitations Zorga!

We landed on planet earth according to schedule. The trip was a little rough, Ghfa got moon-sick and had to be drained, but other than that everyone else was fine. As soon as we landed we all began our investigations and I have to tell you, these earthlings are curious beings.

In our studies of the most developed of the human creatures, we found many of them huddled around a screen of some sort that emitted rays and had flashing images. The ones with wrinkles and white hair and the smaller ones without coherent communication all seemed transfixed by these boxes. Being the good researcher that I am, I soon acquired a box as well and started gazing. After all, these beings appear to be looking at this awfully hard, so it must be important.

The images on these boxes were strange. There were lengthy shows with story lines, some went for half a pupt, others a whole pupt, but the most interesting were the short ones that were tied into inanimate objects. What was peculiar was how the curvy earthlings were portrayed in these short shows (I heard the earthlings refer to them as “ads”). Although outside the box, the curvy ones (called “woah-manh”) did many things like cut people open with knives, create words for others to read and argue to keep people out of boxes with bars, these ads did not really reflect that.

Although I could not come up with a reason for why the ads were different, according to the research of Xdg, the ads are meant to be an alternate universe for the beings to imagine.

Story continues below advertisement

One of the ad types that kept occurring (with slight variations) were ads with a reedy woah-manh with large endowments who was with a wide variety of objects. At times she would appear with a beverage that a manh would drink, and then he would get to have the woah-manh; sometimes she was with a food item (like rice or hamburgers or gum), and other times she was not doing much at all–just standing there for the manh to gaze at. It was strange to see that these woah-manh, who I knew were earthlings too, were paired with objects to be purchased. This made me look at the earthlings with surprise, since the manh were not used very often in the same way. I still have not really understood why. Not only was the woah-manh being used, but the brains of manh’s were being ignored. Although most manh appeared to be intelligent, the ads did not think so. They would keep showing the woah-manh along with the object, but when the manh would go to buy the object the woah-manh was never there! Not sure why the ads think the manh are stupid.

Some of the ads have woah-manh who were not as reedy, but these types were always in the home structure. They would pick up and destroy dirt and feed the little earthlings in the ads. Nothing much would go wrong in these ads; in fact, it was only in the ads that I observed the perfect dirt-free, noise-free, stress-free atmosphere in the home structure. The woah-manh in these ads were just concerned with the home, and there were never any manh who were. This also confused me since both the manh and the woah-manh are in the home; I do not know why they show only the woah-manh as picking up the dirt.

The difference between the world inside the box and the world outside the box was astonishing. However, I have come to the conclusion that the reason the earthlings are watching the box so much is to become like the earthlings in the box. They are taking lessons from those inside and try to apply it to the world outside. Why else would they go out and buy all the things being sold in the ads?

The role of manh and woah-manh might happen the same way. I have been seeing more and more woah-manh who are reedy like the woah-manh on television. But, the woah-manh outside the television are much more complex–they work, are smart and do many things. Even the woah-manh within the box are complex, but when the big eye stares at them, they are told to act like simple people. I feel like the woah-manh characters in the ads needs to learn from the real woah-manh watching, not the other way around.

Well Zorga, I need to get back to my research of the earthlings. There are so many curious things to observe about them. For instance, it is strange that some of them desire to kill the other ones. Also, I am studying why some of them have so many items and some do not even have nourishment. I will write to you soon about these other things.
