For students and faculty looking to find out more about their
department and getting to know new colleagues and students, Saint
Louis University’s academic rush is the perfect opportunity.
The event takes place today from noon to 1 p.m. at various
locations throughout campus. The University describes the event as
an opportunity for faculty and students to “get together outside of
the classroom to share ideas, strengthen learning communities and
build excitement for the upcoming year.”
The goals of the event are to improve student retention,
academic success and SLU pride.
Each school has their own events planned that could include
speakers, presentations, information sharing and refreshments.
The Edward and Margaret Doisy School of Allied Health
Professions is having an open house, food and games from 11 a.m. to
1 p.m. on the third floor multipurpose room of the Allied Health
Professions Building. It is being held in conjunction with the
welcome lunch for new students.

about study programs, clubs, career services, internships and study
abroad programs for business school students from 12:15 p.m. to
1:30 p.m. in the Davis-Shaughnessy courtyard and atrium.
The political science department is holding a “meet-and-greet”
session with student leaders of the political science club, an

Fitzgerald Hall 112.

and resource introductions and cookies and punch from 3 p.m. to 4
p.m. in Fitzgerald Hall 112.
The department of communications is having a reception on the
third floor of Xavier from noon to 1 p.m. Faculty will be on hand
to answer any questions about the department.
The events are open to all students, providing opportunities for
yet-undecided students to find out more information about possible
majors and other programs.
The event is sponsored by the Retention Management Committee and
is being coordinated by the Sub-Committee on Faculty-Student
Relations.
Additional departments, other than those listed above, are
holding events and students are encouraged to contact the
individual departments to find out when events are being held.
