Drunken Fish rolls out in style

It has a vibrant beat. It has a sense of class. It’s chic, it’s
new, and it’s the hottest spot in the city for sushi. The Drunken
Fish is located in the heart of the Central West End, on the corner
of Page and West Port and is a convenient spot for the stylish
Saint Louis University student. Whether you’re going for an evening
with your significant other, or a place to bring the girls, the
Drunken Fish is it.

You walk into an open atrium and are immediately immersed in the
scene. A loud club beat, red lights lining the bar, comfy couches
and some of the most stylish members of the night scene of St.
Louis.

Quickly I looked at my outfit to make sure that I wasn’t five
years behind this fashion scene.

Luckily, with my black stilettos and a trendy black halter, I
was ok. The five gorgeous ladies I brought with me who also thought
that they made a statement. I literally felt like I was living Sex
and the City -minus the Cosmo.

But on that topic, what the Drunken Fish is most known for is
their extensive and exotic cocktail list. If you’re going for the
whole large-cocktail chic atmosphere thing you’re going to be
willing to pay.

The bartender has created some of his own cocktails that are fun
and flirty with a kick. So if you’re looking for a fun first date
idea, take your special someone out for a cocktail. It’s the
perfect way to spend an hour or so talking.

If you’re feeling hungry try, the sushi. Proportionally, it’s a
perfect compliment to the trendy drink you’d have in your hand. The
sushi is fresh, innovative, and yet distinctly traditional,
although admittedly pricey. If you’re not sure what’s in the roll,
the servers will be glad to help guide you through the enormous
selection. The specialty rolls can range from $8-$16.

Not in the mood for sushi? They have a full menu of traditional
Japanese food, which is also highly recommended.

Bottom line: It’s all about ambience and who’s who. It’s the
place to go if you’re one who, instead of kegs and eggs, “prefers
starbucks and a …scone.”

Not sure you’re trendy enough? Take someone who is with you, and
you’ll fit right in. Or, have a cocktail and some sake, and you’ll
feel comfortable in no time. My girls and I loved it, and we had a
blast there. But I have to admit, I haven’t tried it for a date,
but I’d love to go again (hint, hint).

The Drunken Fish is located at 639 West Port Plaza. You can
contact them at 275-8300, and for large parties you will need a
reservation. Besides, you look so much more important when you walk
up with your entourage and can be seated immediately. Then, you
will get noticed.
