The most recognized name nowadays in Saint Louis University athletics garnered national recognition over the winter break, as the brother-sister tandem of Kevin and Theresa Lisch were profiled in USAToday.
The article featured a picture on the front page of the newspaper’s sports section. The article details the duo’s achievements on and off the court but notes the success resulting from the efforts of men’s coach Brad Soderberg and women’s coach Shimmy Gray-Miller.
Furthermore, the article mentions the excitement around SLU as the new $80 million on-campus arena is expected to be completed by early 2008.
The Lisches have gotten used to being in the spotlight. Kevin, a sophomore guard, leads the Billikens in scoring and assists. A member of the Atlantic 10 Conference All-Rookie team last season, Lisch has played an integral role in helping the Billikens to a 12-6 mark at press time.
Theresa, a freshman, leads the Billikens in scoring and has handled the transition from the high school game rather impressively. Just one year removed from being named Miss Illinois Basketball, Lisch has helped lead a dramatically improved Billiken squad.
The Lisch family will be busy this weekend, as both Kevin and Theresa will be in action. Kevin will visit New York with the men’s basketball team as they face Fordham on Saturday at 11 a.m. Theresa will remain in St. Louis as the women’s basketball team prepares for a Sunday afternoon tilt with conference rival Saint Joseph’s at 1 p.m. in the Bauman-Eberhardt Center.
