Shakespeare wasn’t lying when he said “All the world’s a stage.” For the next few weeks, at least, all of Saint Louis University will be, as auditions are held for SLU Theatre’s spring season and for feminist group Una’s upcoming V-Day shows.
Two shows will be performed as a part of V-Day: “The Vagina Monologues” and “A Memory, a Monologue, a Rant, and a Prayer.” Women may audition for both shows, while men are invited to audition for “A Memory, a Monologue, a Rant, and a Prayer.”
The auditions will be held Monday, Dec. 3, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., and Tuesday, Dec. 4, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. No preparation or previous experience is required to audition. For more information on the location of the auditions, email [email protected].
In addition to the tryouts put on by Una, SLU Theatre will also be looking for actors and actresses to perform in its spring season. The season will include performances of the musical “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown,” which will run Feb. 29 and March 1, 7, 8 and 9, the comedy “Kid-Simple” which will run April 18, 19, 25, 26 and 27 and a student-directed studio production, which will run April 4, 5 and 6, the title of which will be announced in the near future.
The auditions will take place on Friday, Dec. 7 and Saturday, Dec. 8, with callbacks on Dec. 9 and 10. All auditions will take place in the Xavier mainstage theater.
Those interested can find more information by stopping by the theatre callboard, located in the hallway directly outside of the Department of Fine and Performing Arts office in Xavier Hall room 109, or by getting in touch with the theatre production office at 977-2822.
