SLU TV, the University’s on-campus television station, elected a new executive board and president on Thursday, Dec. 6. John Castelli, formerly the station’s executive vice president, will take the reins of the organization today.
“I’m very honored,” Castelli said. “I’m just really excited to have the opportunity to lead the organization . I see what incredible potential it has,” Castelli said.
SLU TV held a special mid-year election because Patrick Wessel, its current president, is graduating on Friday, Dec. 14. Regular elections for the 2008-2009 school year will be held in May.
“It’s hard for me to see [Wessel] leave,” Castelli said. “His personality was really important. He’s really laid-back and helped to balance out the group.”
Castelli said that his goals for this semester include increasing student-produced programming, recruiting new members and collaborating with more student organizations.
Everyone who had participated in any SLU TV production in 2007 was eligible to vote in Thursday’s election; 15 people participated.
