Two months after the student body voted in favor of a referendum that suggested pushing smoking to the perimeter of campus, representatives from the Student Government Association and smoke.free.slu are still working to realize that vision.
SGA President Andrew Clifton and smoke.free.slu Vice President Carly Caminiti met with the Staff Advisory Committee on April 13 to discuss the future of the referendum.
Clifton has also consulted the president of the Faculty Senate, who met with the Senate’s executive board.
Clifton said that he wanted to consult the two bodies before meeting with the President’s Coordinating Council on Tuesday, April 22.
“We’re one large community of staff, faculty and students, and all groups need to have the option to voice their opinions on the issue,” said Clifton.
The PCC, which consists of Clifton, executive administrators, select deans, the Faculty Senate president and the SAC chair, advises University President Lawrence Biondi, S.J. Clifton said its decision regarding the smoking ban is pending.
