St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay will stop by the College Democrats’ first meeting of the year on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Room 221 of the Laclede Classroom Building.
College Dems President Lauren Khouri said Slay will be drumming up enthusiasm for the mayoral elections in April.
The College Dems helped to register students as Missouri voters for the national election in November. Those students were then able to vote in a first-ever on-campus polling place in the Busch Student Center.
“We are probably going to be keeping-this is tentative-our polling place open for the mayoral elections in April,” said Khouri.
Khouri said she hopes her organization’s involvement in St. Louis politics will send a message that “we’re men and women for others; for the local community.
“It’s not over. We want to keep the momentum going . we’re willing to start in our own back yard.”
