After the most intense preseason training in the volleyball team's recent history, the Billikens saw their hard work come to life in the Best Western Miami Invitational. For just the seventh time in the program's history, the team started the season 3-0 in its first weekend of play.

Men’s squad tallies two straight exhibition wins

The men's soccer team, ranked eighth in the nation, is 2-0 after its first week of exhibition play. The Billikens defeated DePaul 1-0 on Aug. 20, and Memphis 2-0 on Saturday, Aug. 23. In the first game against DePaul, senior midfielder Dado Hamzagic scored the game's lone goal early in the second half.

Women in a New York state of mind

The women's soccer team has practiced for four weeks and still has not played a game. Since the team's first game on Aug. 22 was postponed due to weather concerns, the players are anxious to get their season started. On tap for the team this weekend are two games in upstate New York in Army's BAE Systems Fall Classic.

Leadership from experience

The six seniors on the men's soccer team this year have a combined 16 years of collegiate experience between them. This extensive experience, according to head coach Dan Donigan, is what will help the Billikens to contest not only an Atlantic 10 title but also an NCAA Championship title.

Baseball team boasts 21 for spring recruiting class

Bringing in 21 new players is a definite way to give a team a whole new look. And that is exactly what the Saint Louis University baseball team will have when they take the field this season. "Twenty one new players is a high number," head baseball coach Darin Hendrickson said.

Men's Soccer The Billikens return nine starters from last year's squad that grabbed the league's regular season title and finished 12-2-5 overall. The team fell in the NCAA Tournament in penalty kicks to Illinois-Chicago. Senior Calum Angus was named a second-team All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association or America and was the 2007 Atlantic 10 Conference Defensive Player of the Year.

Two softball players gain international experience

When junior Rachel O'Connell traveled to Austria and Prague with teammate Kristian Berger to play softball, she admitted that she thought the competition would be more challenging. The softball duo played for USA Athletes International, Inc., a softball team composed of players from Missouri, Texas, New York and Illinois.
