Tennis stuns top seeds en route to fifth place

Junior Sean McManus preferred the Billikens enter the Atlantic 10 Tournament flying under the radar at No. 10. The men's tennis team finished fifth, its best placing ever at A-10s, Friday, April 4, to Friday, Sunday, April 6, in Monroeville, Penn. Their 3-1 record in the tournament gave the Billikens their first winning season, 11-10, since the 1996-97 season.

Losses to Mizzou break three-game win streak

The softball team is in the midst of an eight-game homestand, and sophomore infielder Brittney Schmidt said she hopes the Billikens can use these games to turn their season around. After dropping both games of a double header against the University of Missouri on Wednesday, April 9, the Billikens' record stands at 15-23-1, but they are fourth in the Atlantic 10 standings, with a 6-4 record in league play.

Baseball has six straight road games The Saint Louis University baseball team will be on the road for the next six games of the season, taking place Saturday, April 12, to Sunday, April 13, with a three-game set against Rhode Island. The Rams enter the weekend with a 4-5 mark in conference play (11-19 overall) and lead the all-time series 3-2.

Holdmeyer snags qualifying time in first career 10K

It did not take Brian Holdmeyer long to adjust to the outdoor track and field season. Or the 10,000-meter run, for that matter. On Friday, March 28, the freshman met the 10,000-meter qualifying standard for the 2008 USA Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the Washington University Invitational.

For the first time ever, all four No. 1 seeds reached the Final Four: Memphis, UCLA, Kansas and North Carolina. For me, it's the Memphis Tigers that have what it takes to cut down the nets in San Antonio this year. Memphis got off to an easy start, taking care of Texas-Arlington and Mississippi State.

In order for the men's tennis team to pull off a victory in the Atlantic 10 Tournament, it will need a run reminiscent of Davidson University's in the NCAA this year. Like Davidson, the Billikens enter the tournament as the No. 10 seed after concluding their season with a loss to Illinois State.

Weather wreaks havoc on baseball team’s plans

At this point, the baseball team should have played nine home games. Four of those nine, however, have been rained out, including the most recent home game against Indiana State, which was scheduled for Tuesday, April 1. Only two of the four games have been rescheduled.

Field hockey players earn honors Fourteen players from the Saint Louis University Field Hockey team proved that they can get the job done on the playing field and in the classroom. As a team, the Billikens joined five other Atlantic 10 teams in earning the National Field Hockey Coaches Association's Division I National Academic Team Award, with a team GPA of at least 3.
