Men's basketball exits Scottrade In its annual senior night, the Billiken men's basketball team suffered a 70-50 loss to the St. Bonaventure Bonnies-a team that had 14-straight road losses before its win against Saint Louis University. The game against the Bonnies on Saturday, March 1, was the last home game in the Scottrade Center, as the team will transition into its first season at the Chaifetz Arena beginning with the 2008-2009 season.

Cardinals sack veteran Spiezio

Last week, the Cardinals made a statement when they cut ties with veteran third baseman Scott Spiezio. This happened after General Manager John Mozeliak learned of Spiezio's six-count arrest warrant, which includes driving while intoxicated, a charge issued by the Irvine, Calif.

Tennis focuses on conditioning heading into weekend

With the weather in St. Louis sunny one day and snowy the next, there is no telling whether the Billiken tennis games at home will be on this weekend. Both the men's and women's teams are slated for home games against Western Illinois on Friday, March 7. The men will then face University of Missouri-Kansas City on Saturday, March 8, while the women take on Southeast Missouri State on Sunday, March 9.

Baseball goes head-to-head with St. Louis franchise

It was 2-2 at one point in the second inning when the Saint Louis University baseball team played the St. Louis Cardinals in Jupiter, Fla. A 10-run fourth inning for the Cardinals, however, was too much for the Billikens to handle, as the game was called at the seventh-inning stretch by mutual consent between managers.

No sooner had Women's Basketball Coach Shimmy Gray-Miller finished addressing the crowd of Billiken fans than the lights began to shut off after the last contest scheduled in the Bauman-Eberhardt Center. More affectionately referred to around campus as the West Pine Gym, the building opened in 1920 and was the home court for the women's basketball and volleyball teams.
