Vosburgh’s View: Buying bricks for baseball immortality

I was very happy when I was surfing the Cardinals' website the other day and noticed an advertisement for the Stan Musial Plaza Brick Paver Program. The Cardinals are selling personalized engraved bricks again, a program that began in 2005 while the new Busch Stadium was being built.

After an impressive rebound last year, the Saint Louis University Women's Basketball Team is ready to show the Atlantic 10 Conference that it is ready to compete. Coach Shimmy Gray-Miller, in her third year as head coach, has transformed the team from one that won just four games in 2004-05 to one that captured the program's first conference tournament win since 2002.

Kansas, Missouri to face off in border showdown

If you've paid any attention to Big XII football this year, then you would know that things are heating up in the North division. The Kansas Jayhawks are off to their best start since 1909, at 8-0 overall and 4-0 in the conference, and are currently ranked eighth in the Bowl Championship Series standings.

How do you feel heading into the last part of the season? I'm pretty happy with where were sitting right now in the conference. You look back and stress on the hiccups or games that you're not totally pleased with, but if you look back at almost every year and look across the country, teams are slipping up all the time.

Fall tennis season ends with Acosta’s loss at ITA Regional Quarters

Felipe Acosta saw a good season come to an end in the ITA Regional Quarter finals this past Saturday. Acosta defeated University of Arkansas-Little Rock's German Perez 6-0, 6-3 to advance to Saturday's quarterfinals in the consolation bracket, but he dropped a 2-6, 0-6 match to Scott McCormick from Wichita State.

Charlotte is last test for women’s soccer before A-10 tourney

The Saint Louis University women's soccer team looks to end its regular season play on a high note this weekend. SLU, ranked second in the Atlantic 10 Conference, is set to play the No. 1 ranked team, Charlotte, tomorrow at home. With a win, the Billikens will claim the top seed in the A-10 Conference tournament, which will guarantee them a bye in the first round.

Volleyball team delivers wins, despite inexperience

The volleyball team has had one thing on its mind this year: winning. "Last year, I felt like there was a lot of positive attitude, and everyone wanted to work hard, but this year there's that expectation of being successful that is different," sophomore outside hitter Bridget Fonke said.

New distribution plan allows 750 student tickets in Chaifetz

The construction of Chaifetz Arena on campus is a step that Saint Louis University has taken toward creating a more respectable basketball program. But with the new arena comes a new ticket distribution process. In past years, the tickets have been distributed based on a "lottery" system, where the students are chosen at random for which seats they will hold in the Scottrade Center.

Blue Crew, Athletic Dept. host ‘meet and greet’

This Monday, the Saint Louis University men's basketball team will hold a meet and greet to give fans a chance to meet the new head coach Rick Majerus and the players. The event will be held in the Ballroom at the Busch Student Center from 7 to 10 p.m. The meet and greet is being hosted by Saint Louis University Athletic Department, the Alumni Relations Department and Blue Crew.

Dahle breaks SLU records with top times in 1,000-yd. free

It has been a successful season for both the Saint Louis University men's and women's swimming and diving teams this year. Freshman Michael Dahle has been a big part of the men's team's success. Dahle, from Lindbergh High School in St. Louis, was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week after winning two events at the Butler Quad in Indianapolis last weekend.

This year, when the New York Yankees crumbled to the Cleveland Indians three games to one in the American League Division Series, their chance to win the World Series wasn't the only thing they lost. The team, considered a dynasty from 1996-2000, that then played nearly flawless baseball, just committed one of its biggest mistakes.
