Q&A with Shimmy Gray-Miller

[email protected] November 30, 2007
How does this team compare to others you've coached? This is the best team I've seen since I've been here. I know the record doesn't show that, but this team works harder than any other and has the potential to do great things in the future. Our team is mainly freshmen and sophomores.

Q&A with Rick Majerus

[email protected] November 30, 2007
What are your goals for this season? I would hope that number one goal is academics. It's most important that they move that agenda forward and culminating with graduation. The second goal would probably be to improve their culture of basketball in their lives.

Vosburgh’s View: Border showdown proves exiting matchup to watch

Max Vosburgh November 30, 2007
In a year when Kansas was picked to finish fourth in the Big 12 North, a year when head coach Mark Mangino was given an ultimatum-win or you're out-and a year started by controversy surrounding the quarterback position, it would have been too much like a Cinderella story for the Jayhawks to end up winning the national championship.

Derrick Neuner November 30, 2007
Kent State steam rolled through the Saint Louis University men's basketball team at home Wednesday, Nov. 28, defeating the Billikens 81-40. The Golden Flashes shot 72.7 percent in the first half in building a 20-point lead and eased to the victory. Kevin Lisch and Paul Eckerle led the Billikens (5-3) with eight points each.

Grazier prepares to take next step

Derrick Neuner November 30, 2007
On a team that has several players honored for their play on the field, senior midfielder Brian Grazier's efforts can sometimes go unnoticed. "With the position that he plays, he is not the guy getting all the goals and assists, and he is not the last man of defense, so he does not really get the recognition that he deserves," Coach Dan Donigan said.

Vosburgh’s View: Instant replay option hinders baseball realism

Max Vosburgh November 16, 2007
Major League Baseball made one of its biggest mistakes in 2003 when it began awarding home field advantage in the World Series to the team that won the All-Star game. Now, the MLB is on the verge of making another idiotic move. On Tuesday Nov. 6, general managers approved a proposal to use instant replay on a limited basis.

Swimming, diving teams poised for tough meets

Scott Vicker November 16, 2007
Men's and women's swimming and diving teams have two tough meets coming up, head coach Jim Halliburton said. "The men's team has some pretty good swimmers that have been winning a lot of events," Halliburton said. "For the men, Illinois-Chicago will probably be the best team we see all year; so we might be the underdog against them.

Basketball team making progress, Majerus says

Dan Hunninghake November 16, 2007
Men's basketball coach Rick Majerus said that he cannot contain himself when it comes to advancing his team. "We had a good shoot-around today, which ended up [lasting] one hour and 40 minutes," Majerus said. "We try to make progress everyday, and I am really pleased with the way [the players] are trying to progress academically.

Derrick Neuner November 9, 2007
After an impressive rebound last year, the Saint Louis University Women's Basketball Team is ready to show the Atlantic 10 Conference that it is ready to compete. Coach Shimmy Gray-Miller, in her third year as head coach, has transformed the team from one that won just four games in 2004-05 to one that captured the program's first conference tournament win since 2002.
