Cross country nears end of season in Atlantic 10

After a strong showing at the Bradley Classic Oct. 12, the Saint Louis University cross country team will head to Philadelphia this weekend for the Atlantic 10 Championships. "Since the beginning of the season we've been working for the conference championship," senior Captain Steve Vargas said.

Volleyball to play top A-10 contenders Dayton, Xavier

The Saint Louis University volleyball team will look for revenge this weekend as the Billikens take on Atlantic 10 Conference rivals Xavier and Dayton-the only teams that have defeated the Billikens in conference play this season. The Bills have strung together seven consecutive wins in the last two weeks, and they will head into this weekend with a 17-5 record overall and 6-2 record in conference play.

Biancardi brings experience

On Oct. 1, the Saint Louis University basketball family added another member when head coach Rick Majerus named Paul Biancardi his new assistant coach. "His passion for the game and his ability to teach it are evident to everyone who has watched him recruit a student-athlete or conduct a practice," Majerus said in an online statement.

Money doesn't buy championships. Not in baseball at least. Last year, we witnessed the St. Louis Cardinals defeat the Detroit Tigers in five games to win the World Series. Everyone knows that by now, but what everyone doesn't know is that last year the Cardinals spent more than $88 million on the players on its 2006 roster, making it the 11th highest payroll (out of 30 teams) in Major League Baseball.

Cross country seniors shatter records, lead SLU to victory

Saturday night the Saint Louis University cross country team faced their biggest test of the season at the Books Twilight meet. The race featured 40 squads in the men's and women's fields. Under the lights of the Memphis sky, both squads were led by their top runners-seniors Steve Vargas and Laura Coyer-both who broke school records, leading the squads to second and fifth place finishes overall.

Society for American Baseball Research promotes the history of baseball in St. Louis

St. Louis baseball history is coming to Saint Louis University to mark the spot of a former major league park, which is now part of the University. On Oct. 16, local baseball history enthusiasts will dedicate a plaque to mark the site, which is located on the southeast side of the Marchetti Tower property.

Patterson leads Bills with two goals in 3-3 tie against rival Buffalo

The Saint Louis University men's soccer team's fourgame winning streak came to an end Oct. 6 when it tied Buffalo University 3-3. Junior forward Kyle Patterson scored two goals and assisted another for the Billikens, but Buffalo scored with 8.2 seconds left in regulation to even the score at three a piece.

Field hockey looks to snap seven-game losing streak

The Saint Louis University field hockey team is set to travel to Philadelphia this weekend to compete in two Atlantic 10 Conference matches against La Salle and West Chester. The Billikens, who dropped their first two A-10 games last weekend against St. Joseph's and Temple, look to kick off conference road action on a different note.

Ultimate frisbee sets its sights on successful season

The team reached the World Series for the first time since 1982 under Jocketty's direction. The Cardinals' team president Mark Lamping announced the decision on Wednesday.
