The Saint Louis University women's basketball team came away from a two-game weekend series with a split in Atlantic-10 conference play. After dropping their Friday match-up at St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia, the Billikens claimed their first A-10 victory against Duquesne on Sunday.

Throughout my childhood and young adult years, I have spent a considerable amount of time from November to March attending Saint Louis University men's basketball games. The first team I remember watching was the 1988-89 team. I turned five years old near the end of that team's season, which resulted in a runner-up finish in the National Invitation Tournament.

Billikens warm up with Western Illinois after winter break

This past weekend, the Saint Louis University Swimming and Diving team returned home to host Western Illinois at the Simon Recreation Center. The team, showing no signs of rust from the winter break, eased past a tough Western Illinois squad in both the men's and women's fields.

While the young Billikens have shown signs of talent in the 2005-2006 season, they have been struggling with their consistency. Since the start of the regular season, the Bills have failed to record a winning streak; but by the same token, they avoided a dreaded losing streak.
