Bills get steamrolled by visiting Boilermakers

The baseball team started off slow in a weekend series against Big 10 foe Purdue University, but gained momentum with a strong showing on Sunday afternoon. After dropping 7-1 and 4-1 contests on Friday and Saturday, the squad rebounded to post an impressive 6-5 victory at the Billiken Sports Center.

The Saint Louis University softball team spent its spring Break in Birmingham, Ala., and Kissimmee, Fla., playing 13 games in seven days. The team amassed a 6-7 record during that span. The Billikens opened the Alabama Central Credit Union Bulldog Bash on March 10 with a 4-3 victory over Louisiana-Monroe.

Track and field gains varsity status; golf teams to go club

Last Friday, Saint Louis University athletic director Cheryl Levick broke news to the public on a decision over a year in the making, when she announced that men's and women's track and field would attain varsity status, effective immediately. Within minutes of the announcement of the 2006 NCAA Tournament brackets, people all over the country began filling out their own brackets for various tournament pools. They concocted their own Final Fours. It is pretty likely that thousands of hours of productivity were lost at offices across the country due to workers filling out their brackets while at work.

The Saint Louis University baseball team entered Columbia with a newfound swagger, unseen in the past couple of seasons. They were riding high on a five-game winning streak and conjured up thoughts of upsetting their much more renowned, cross-state rival for the second-straight year.

Let's rewind back to a Sunday back in early September 1995. From a hotel room in Milwaukee, I watched the St. Louis Rams play their first game under that name, after they had moved to St. Louis in the off-season. In that game, played at historic Lambeau Field in Green Bay Wis.

After a red-hot February, The Saint Louis University men's basketball team has faltered in college basketball's most important month. Saturday's 62-52 loss to La Salle was the second in a row for the Billikens, who have now lost twice as many games in March as they did in February.

The softball team continued its battle with inconsistency as the squad dropped three of its four games at the Missouri State Classic. After dropping two games during the week to Eastern Illinois, the squad had high hopes of bouncing back with a trip to Springfield, Mo.
