The Saint Louis University men’s soccer team has lost one of its key players.
Sophomore foward Dominic DaPra is transfering to the University of Wisconsin to continue his academic and athletic career.
In a press release, coach Bob Warming said, “We certainly wish Dominic the best as he returns home to pursue his career at Wisconsin.
“He has been a wonderful part of our team on and off the field and we wish him continued success in both arenas.”
DaPra has been a rather large piece of the Billikens success over the past two seasons. Last season DaPra tallied seven points with two goals and three assists.
In his freshman year he was SLU’s leading scorer with 20 points and led the team in goals with eight.
“We’re losing a big part of our offense,” said freshman Jason Cole. “He was the leading scorer two seasons ago.
“He’s a great finisher and is hard to mark, the oppsoing team had trouble defending him.”
Senior Mark Robinson said, “He’s a good player because of his ability to hold the defender off.
“He’s big and hard to deal with in the air because of his size. He wasn’t fast, but he got the job done,” Robinson said.
“He’ll be missed because of his ability to win balls in the air and finish the ball,” said freshman Jon Ciminieri.
In his time here at SLU, DaPra has collected some impressive awards. In his frehsman campaign he was named to the Conference USA All Freshman team. This season he was named a preseason C-USA first teamer.
However, DaPra will be missed for more than just his on field ability.
“He has a great personality and is a great guy,” Ciminieri said. “He was the team practical jokester, he’ll be missed.”
