Second Recruit Signs
Saint Louis University men’s basketball coach Lorenzo Romar announced that Randy Pulley has signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball at SLU.
Pulley averaged 21 points, 12 assists, eight rebounds and six steals his junior season at Word of God Christian Academy. The 6-foot-2 point guard will have four years of eligibility starting the 2001-2002 season.
“We believe that Randy is one of the best point guards in the country,” said Romar. “He’s got good size, is extremely quick and an outstanding passer. Randy is also a young man with great character which is always a plus for our program.”
In his sophomore season Pulley was named MVP of the annual national tournament for Christian schools as his school won the championship.
Pulley’s current coach, Kevin Washington said, “Randy is strong, a pure athlete and already has a body built for college basketball.”
“He is extremely disciplined and brings great leadership. He’s a player of the year candidate in North Carolina. Coach Romar got a good one in Randy,” Washington said.
Recruiting expert Bob Gibbons’ All-Star Report lists Pulley as one of the nations top 100 players. He is a Street & Smith’s honorable mention All-America.
He was also recruited by Charlotte, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech and Charleston.
