Field Hockey
Earlier this month, four new field hockey players committed to Saint Louis University.
The Billikens inked St. Louis native Julie Moeckel from Ladue High School, a goalie, who brings an outstanding work ethic to the field hockey program and the ability to make great plays in front of the net.
SLU’s program will be further enhanced by three student-athletes from Ohio.
High school teammates Carin Boone and Jill Mueller (both from Loveland, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) are anticipated to be immediate contributors to the Billikens.
Boone, a defender, was named to the All League, All District and All Star teams in Loveland. Boone received the honor of being named Ursuline’s most valuable defender.
Mueller, a midfielder, was named to the All League First Team during her sophomore, junior and senior years. Mueller was also recruited by Ohio State, Northwestern, Old Dominion, Georgetown and Yale.
Both Boone and Mueller participated in the 2002 United States Field Hockey Association’s Futures Program.
Forward Megan Weisenberger also joins the Billikens from Ohio. Weisenberger was named to the All League Second Team in 2000. During her junior year, she tallied 14 goals and eight assists.
“These signees are the foundation of our recruiting class that will complement our returning players,” coach Shannon West said in a release.
