Crew Club

The Saint Louis University Crew Club competed in the 9th Annual Subaru Head of the Des Moines Regatta on the Des Moines river Saturday, Sept. 29. Over 30 teams from the midwest competed in the three mile races.

SLU’s rowers brought home medals in four races, most notably a first place finish in the Mixed Four race with Ruth Wimsatt, Jess Lange, Phil Gilbertson, Tom Hare and coxswain Megan Beaty.

A combined team with the Saint Louis Rowing Club in the Mixed Eight won the silver medal.

SLU rowers also included Faris Roscher, Sam Watts, Phil Gilbertson and Tom Hare.

Tennis

The men’s tennis team traveled to Indiana last weekend to play in the Ball State Classic.

Ikaika Jobe won the open singles ‘A’ championship with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 win over Ryan Maarchalk from Northern Illinois University.

Lance Vodicka and Jobe finished second in a tie breaker against NIU’s Aaron Forsberg and Raymond van Wesbeck.

In the ‘B’ doubles match, the duo of Taylor Curran and Tom de Larzac defeated Khalilib Al Nabhani and Tony Tran in the consolation final.

Yi Hsieh and Sanjeev Paramanathan lost in the ‘C’ consolation bracket.

This weekend, the men’s team will play in the Louisville Invite, while Vodicka and Jobe will play in the ITA All-American Tournament in Chattanooga, Tenn.
