Concert Venues

The Pageant

in the U. City Loop is St. Louis’ nest and most popular venue,
hosting rock, hip-hop and country acts. The room is large enough
for bigger name performers like Wilco and Outkast but occasionally
hosts more intimate shows.

Mississippi Nights on the Landing has been a mainstay on
the concert circuit for more than 20 years and continues to bring
top rock, punk and blues acts.

In Washington Avenue’s loft district we have The Galaxy,
which plays home to more industrial, emo, electronic and ska-punk
bands. The Galaxy hosts a fetish night on Mondays, so break out the
whips.

While you’re downtown, check out The Creepy Crawl, St.
Louis’ best punk club. The club is all-ages, and there’s even a
classy metal fence around the bar to enforce state drinking
statutes.

If you can find that giant Amoco sign off of Clayton Road, you
can find The Hi-Pointe, the bar/venue adjacent to the movie
theatre of the same name. Stop by for great local and national
rock, punk, alt-country and get to know some of the local
scenesters.

The venues listed above generally host all ages shows, normally
with a $2 surcharge for minors. For those discerning music fans 21
years old and above, try these fine establishments:

Frederick’s Music Lounge hosts some of the most hootin’
and hollerin’ Americana and dirt-rock acts around. Lemmon’s
was recently renovated by the Black Thorn Pub, with great
pizza upstairs and good rock in the basement. Off Broadway
brings mainly acoustic folk-rock and Mississippi blues and is a
highlight for touring singer-songwriters.
