Women’s Soccer
The National Soccer Coaches Association (NSCAA) honored four Billikens with All-Central Team recognitions.
Goalkeeper Meghann Burke was named to the first team after being selected as the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year.
Burke holds every goalkeeping record at SLU with a 0.97 goals against average, 48 victories, 38 shut outs and 347 saves.
Jenny Kehl was named to the second team and led C-USA in assists with 12 this season. Kehl is ranked 15th in the nation for assists and holds the SLU record with 34 career assists.
Jamie Perry was named to the second team and led the Bills in scoring this season. Perry tallied 13 goals and three assists, setting the SLU record for points in a season and was third in the league in scoring.
Christie Cigno was the only Billiken freshman recognized by the NSCAA and was selected as a member of the second team. Cigno was second in scoring for the Bills this season, tabulating 22 points (nine goals, four assists).
Men’s Soccer
Four members of the Billiken squad were selected by the NSCAA as members of the All-Central Region Team.
Jason Cole, the C-USA Player of the Year, was named to the first team.
Cole moved from defense to forward and became the leading scorer at SLU and led the league in nearly every offensive category. Cole collected 42 points (18 goals, six assists) and is ranked 12th in the nation for scoring with 2 points per game and 0.86 goals per game.
Jack Jewsbury was also named to the first team after ending his career as a Billiken with 101 points (38 goals, 25 assists), becoming one of just 11 players to accumulate at least 100 points. Jewsbury was second in scoring for the Bills this season and third in C-USA with 10 goals and nine assists.
Nick Gannon was named to the second team after moving into the sweeper position this season. The recognition marks the first of Gannon’s career. Gannon was an integral part of the Billikens’ defense this season and helped lead the backfield to a 0.97 goals against average.
After transferring from Wake Forest, Kevin Wickart was an immediate contributor this season both offensively and defensively and was selected as a member of the second team. Wickart led the conference with 12 assists and is ranked ninth in the nation for assists.
