Head women’s basketball coach Shimmy Gray-Miller announced Nov. 14 that five high school players have signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Billikens next year.
Janisha Geralds has been a major component of Bolingbrook High School’s success that includes the 2006 Illinois Class AA state title, a state runner-up finish last season and a 91-6 record the past three seasons.
“She’s a proven winner and fearless competitor, and I think Billiken fans will be very impressed with her toughness and passion,” Gray-Miller said.
Alisha Goodwin (Belleville Althoff High School) was selected All-Conference first team and the Belleville News-Democrat Class AA first team. She averaged 19.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.79 assists, 3.5 steals and 1.24 blocks.
“Alisha is going to have a great career at the next level, and we are excited she is staying close by,” Althoff coach Lori Crunk said.
Devonna Smith has established herself as one of the top players in Kirkwood history, ranking sixth in scoring, fifth in rebounding, ninth in steals and fourth in blocks on the school’s career charts.
“Devonna will bring some additional athleticism and, most of all versatility, to the Saint Louis program,” Kirkwood coach Ron Sanford said.
At Chaminade Julienne, India Warfield won a district championship last season and was ranked No. 20 in this year’s USA Today Super 25 preseason rankings.
“No matter the situation, India emerges from it better than before,” Chaminade Julienne coach Marc Greenberg said.
Kaelin Reid helped power Taft to a sectional crown last year and was rewarded by being named All-State honorable mention, All-District third team and All-City first team.
“Kaelin is a fierce competitor who backs down from no one on the court,” said Queen City Express coach Kelly Peek, Reid’s AAU coach.
