ADMINISTRATIVE VICE PRESIDENT: Vote Michael Harriss
The administrative vice president must be strict, but he or she must also be a team player. Though Anulouwapo “Dami” Daramola would be firm with the senators, her aggression could be off-putting to some. Michael Harriss, a first-year senator, showed his cooperative nature while taking the heat from his ticket for his sweater vest and high waters. Howard said that Harriss has a “sense of wisdom,” and his hope to connect senators with administrators could initiate positive dialogue in the University.
Harriss advocates positive encouragement, while Daramola said that negative, tough-love reinforcement would make a senator think twice about taking leadership positions for the sole purpose of improving his or her résumé. Daramola also spoke negatively of several members of the Voice for Progress ticket. Her campaign slogan, “Demand Change, Demand Dami,” is indicative of the current SGA Chief Information Officer’s tough attitude.
Harriss is more likely than Daramola to produce tangible results because students next yearwill want to work with the calm sophomore. Both candidates want to make the SGA office feel less intimidating to students, but Harriss will accomplish this atmospheric shift through an accomodating, yet ambitious, attitude.
