PRESIDENT: Vote Samantha Howard
Yes, Samantha Howard has SGA experience, but what is most important for the presidential position is that Howard has SLU experience; she knows students.
Jason Potts said that his decision to run without a ticket is to gather input from others, yet, his ideas are already too focused to allow for much flexibility. He campaigns for a 24-hour study space and a solution to overcrowded housing, but Howard’s ideas are broader and will continue to show tangible results beyond her tenure.
The president establishes the Senate’s attitude, and Howard’s enthusiasm is contagious. Criticized in the past for her overwhelming energy, she has learned how to step up by scaling back. Howard sells people on her ideas, and she consciously built a passionate ticket committed to focusing and carrying out her concepts. Potts said his weakest characteristic is putting projects on the back burner, but SGA needs to accomplish its goals-now, more than ever.
Howard is to be taken seriously. She’s got spunk, she’s got heart and, most importantly, she is not a politician. Her concern is for the University’s students first. She will step outside of her own needs and earnestly, sincerely hear the students’ voice. Students need an honest leader, and Howard’s promotion of cultivating a University of leaders will be realized upon her election. The excitement is building already.
