After a hugely successful 2007 tour, Van Halen, the rock band known for such hits as “Jump,” “Hot For Teacher” and “Ain’t Talkin’ Bout Love” is at it again. This year’s tour includes 34 stops, including an appearance at the Scotttrade Center on March 30.
This tour is highlighted by lead singer David Lee Roth, who returned to the band last fall after a 22-year abscence.
The tour this year will not feature the entire original band, however, as bassist Michael Anthony was replaced by Eddie Van Halen’s 16-year-old son Wolfgang Van Halen.
The band has an impressive discography, with 11 studio albums, two compilations and one live album. In addition to its already impressive resume, the band has plans in the works for another live album following this year’s tour.
On the tour, which has been selling out most of its shows, Van Halen has been playing songs entirely from the 1978-1984 Roth era, which means only the classics from the band’s early days will be featured. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band’s tickets range in price from $47 to $147, according to Ticketmaster.
Though the price is a little steep, any Saint Louis University students who crave classic rock at its best should jump at the opportunity to grab some tickets to one of the best shows in music.
The chance to experience Van Halen as your parents did is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and one that may not come around again for another 22 years.
