After two wins in last weekend’s games, the women’s soccer team is in a fourth place tie in the Atlantic 10 Conference.
On Oct. 17, the team downed George Washington, 2-0. Junior midfielder Kelly Waeckerle scored both goals, with one assisted by sophomore midfielder Ashley Brazill.
The team secured another win against Richmond Oct. 19, 1-0. These two victories, plus the one against Temple Oct. 12, give the Bills three consecutive victories.
“I think we worked well as a team,” sophomore forward Caitlin Werkmeister said. “We played better on Sunday, which resulted in the win.
Junior Julia Bradenberg overcame her injury from the Sept. 21 game against Northwestern to score the game-winning goal against Richmond, her first of the season. Freshman Andrea Barklage was also back from the injured list and tallied one shot in 90 minutes.
“We’re starting to move the ball better,” head coach Tim Champion said. “We played better this weekend than we have in the other conference games, and that’s mostly because we got some of our players back.”
The team plays its final regular-season home games Oct. 24 against Xavier and Oct. 26 against Dayton.
“It is much easier to play at home,” Champion said. “We’ve played a lot of games on the east coast, and that can get difficult.”
