Saint Louis University’s chapter of Alpha Phi Omega fraternity is hosting its annual Showers of Service on Saturday April 18 at 9 a.m.
All students, faculty and staff are invited to participate and receive a free T-shirt, breakfast and lunch.
“This is a great opportunity to serve the community and get involved,” said APO President Chris Wedell.
Groups such as colleges, departments and organizations can register to serve at the same site. Individuals can also register by completing the registration form on APO’s website. Everyone will meet at the Robert R. Hermann Soccer Stadium to be dispersed to sites around the community.
“This service can open students’ eyes to situations they aren’t usually around,” said Showers of Service Chair Veronica Niedzinski.
Showers of Service is the spring equivalent to Make A Difference Day and was first created by APO in an effort to bring the SLU community together through the service of others.
“We thought it would be a good idea to include others in APO service,” Wedell said. “This event allows students to grow and learn through interaction with the community.”
APO is a national service fraternity with more than 17,000 male and female student members nationwide. The mission of the fraternity is to prepare leaders through the service of others.
“The values that are at our core are leadership, friendship and service,” Wedell said.
“We are so committed to service because it helps us connect with the community.”
