Bar and music venue Fubar, located in Midtown Alley on Locust Street, offers patrons a vintage rock experience.
“[Fubar is] a rock ‘n’ roll bar. We have a venue that’s more laid back,” Steve Tindall, owner of the venue, said.
Musically, Fubar specializes in headlining regional bands from an array of genres, including punk-rock, heavy metal, alternative, hip-hop and even country.
“We have that young, hipper rock ‘n’ roll crowd,” Tindall said. “[But] the atmosphere really depends on the band.”
According to Tindall, one of the more popular areas of Fubar is the lounge, commonly occupied by, as he calls them, “the regular party crowd.” The venue also houses a jukebox, video games and pool tables.
Tindall said that Fubar’s uniqueness and friendliness sets it apart from other music and drinking establishments in the area.
“We have unique stuff all over the place, like rock ‘n’ roll posters,” he said. “Most people like coming back just to hang out because it’s kind of like that bar you see in the movies. You say, ‘I’d like to go to a bar like that.'”
Tindall founded Fubar in June 2008 with childhood friend Robert Fanchar. Tindall said they had talked about starting a club together when they were kids, and, when they ran into each other as adults, decided to try it.
Fubar is mostly booked through the rest of the year. Tindall said that a performance by alternative rock band Days of the New on Saturday, Nov. 28, is a show to look forward to. He also says that “Sex and Candy” band Marcy’s Playground is not confirmed yet, but will probably play sometime in mid-December.
Fubar is located at 3108 Locust St. For a full list of upcoming performances, check Fubar’s website at fubarstl.com.
