After winning the Atlantic 10 Championship Saturday, the Saint Louis University baseball team is headed to Louisville, KY for the opening rounds of the Div. 1 NCAA Baseball Tournament.
The Billikens (33-27) were selected Monday as the lowest seed in the four team regional. The four teams in each region play a double-elimination bracket, with the winner earning a berth to the Super Regionals the following weekend. The Billikens take on the No. 1 seed and regional host Louisville on June 7. Vanderbilt and Illinois St. are also in the Louisville region.
This is the fourth NCAA tournament appearance for Saint Louis, and the first since 2006.
Louisville (48-12) earned one of the nation’s top eight seeds, and is a favorite to make the College World Series in Omaha. Vanderbilt (41-17) is making its fifth straight tournament appearance. Illinois State (31-22) received an automatic bid after winning the Missouri Valley Conference over the weekend.
