Interim vice president for the Frost Campus Manoj Patankar had his Interim status lifted as SLU President Lawrence Biondi, S.J., appointed him to the permanent position in his June message. The appointment followed a national search in which more than 15 candidates were reviewed for the position.

The vice president for Frost Campus is responsible for nine academic colleges, enrollment management, University Libraries, faculty grievances, and appointment, rank and tenure.

A search committee was responsible for narrowing down the 15 candidates for Biondi to review and make a final appointment. The search committee consisted of eight faculty members from various schools and departments, one staff member and former Student Government Association President Michael Harriss. The goal of the committee was to have the next vice president in place by the start of the fiscal year 2011.

For the past seven years, Joe Weixlmann held the provost position until he stepped down in August 2009 for personal and professional reasons. Patankar was then appointed by Biondi to be the interim for the position until a permanent candidate could be found.
